STARTING A MOVEMENT
one neighborhood at a time

God has always, ALWAYS, had a preference for small things. Whether it was the youngest child in a family, or the smallest nation among much larger nations, God has a history of mobilizing the small moments and movements of history to accomplish his massive purposes.

We believe Missional Communities at North End Collective give us an opportunity to partner with God to mobilize for everyday mission right where we live. These small to medium sized groups meet on a regular basis to worship God, experience community with each other, and live on mission together for the renewal of our City.

MISSIONAL COMMUNITY FAQ

Simply put, a MC is a group of people who are committed to living like Jesus, together.  We talk Jesus, share a meal, and scheme how to better live for the sake of others. We call this the UP, IN, and OUT life.

Our greatest hope for you is that you would come to know Jesus and others more and in return know that you are loved, known, and created for God's good purposes.

Instead of leveraging programs run from a building, North End Collective is investing its energy into equipping and releasing smaller groups of people to go wider and deeper into our city.

Each week our MCs have the opportunity to live into some part (or combination) of the UP, IN, and OUT life together. For example, one week may be primarily about study and prayer, while another is primarily about spending time with each other. Still another week may be spent out on mission together. It’s not hard to see, however, how each week can include some or all the UP, IN, and OUT life.

We get that! While there are some similarities with a Small Group, the biggest difference, however is their orientation. Small Groups are typically inward facing, whereas MCs are primarily outward facing. While they both share the desire to hang out and to spend time with God - MCs organize themselves first around a mission to others in our city believing that hanging out and spending time with God are part of their preparation for loving our City well.

Each MC works to discern where God is calling them and commits to living on mission in 1 of 3 ways: a People, a Place, or a Passion.

A People: Neighbors, Elementary School Children, Foster Families, Women/Men

A Place: Neighborhood, Specific part of town, School, Coffee Shop/Pub

A Passion: A Hobby, Racial Reconciliation, Food Insecurity, Social Injustice

We believe that God is raising up and calling people to join us in the days ahead. As new people join the work at North End Collective through our Sunday Gathering and through other works in the City, then we will launch new MCs for them to be a part of.

We also hope that new people will join our existing MCs from week to week knowing that as new people stay with a MC, then there will come a time for it  to multiply into two (or more) groups.

We encourage our MCs to include kids in as much of the life and mission of a MC as possible. We have already seen what a profound impact it has on kids when they participate alongside their parents in the UP IN and OUT life. Ultimately, each MC will determine the best way to do this.
